Picture Night is an opportunity to enjoy pictures and stories of outdoor adventures and travel most often presented by fellow Chemeketans. During the presentations, we often learn a bit of history about the area visited and about the people encountered. Picture Night is usually held the second Friday of each month, September through May (except December). Read on for information about this month’s presentation.

British explorer Isabella L Bird, advised to travel for her health, toured the Rockies in the fall and winter of 1873, on her way home from the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii). The letters she wrote home to her sister, later becoming the book, A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains, give us a remarkably detailed view of life in this newly settled land.
Intrigued by her vivid descriptions, especially of her beloved Estes Park and what is now the Rocky Mountain National park, Ric and Susan LaTour decided to go exploring themselves, only by plane and car rather than train and horseback.
Join them as they follow in her footsteps from Manitou Springs to Estes Park along the front range of the Rockies.
