UPDATE: It's official! Goat Peak is happening this weekend. I've posted the climb on the club calendar here: https://chemeketans.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=11928&item_id=1576596

So far we have a team of 4-5. Given the short notice, I will not be posting a prospectus to the event calendar or this group, but will provide an abbreviated one to all team members.

We still have room for more climbers.

Climbing friends,

Just a heads up that I’m planning a last-minute, late-season climb of Goat Peak for this weekend. Still working on details, including lining up an observing leader so I can make this a club climb.

Since time is short I wanted to get the word out there and gauge interest.

Please reply directly to me (not the group) if you are interested or have questions.

Basic details:

Sat-Sun, Nov 20-21

Total gain: 4000’

Total miles: 18-ish

Start/End at Pamelia Lake Trailhead at 3100’ (1.5 hours from Salem)

Leave Salem no later than 9am Saturday, return by 5pm Sunday.

Saturday: Backpack 7.5 miles from trailhead to Coyote Lake and set up camp.

Sunday: Travel cross-country 1.5 miles from camp to Goat Peak. Mostly a hike and scramble, with a short roped pitch to reach the summit. Return to camp for lunch, then hike out.
