Hoping for good weather so we can take our time on short scenic hike though a forest area which should yield a generous display of Trillium and Calypso Orchids with slight hope for some early wildflowers in the open areas. Great views from the ridge. There are some steep sections and some potentially slippery spots so good traction footwear and trekking poles are recommended. Please come prepared for Oregon spring weather.

We will hike around Clear Lake, through forest and over lava flows. The trail crosses a bridge over the headwaters of the McKenzie River. The blue and turquoise colors of the lake are stunning. The red vine maple and other fall colors add to the beauty of this lake. After having lunch lakeside, we will complete the loop, then drive a short distance to Sahalie Falls and do the short hike down to the falls. Covid vaccinations are required. Bring a face mask for carpooling if the driver requests that.
Note: Clear Lake is at the edge of a closed area due to the Lookout fire. If it is still smokey in that area, or Clear Lake is not accessible, we will do a substitute hike.
