The Siskiyou Wilderness was part of a refugium during the last ice age and is noted for the amount of biodiversity it contains. It also has some interesting geology. This trip is going to be a lollipop loop through a very nice part of the wilderness. The mileages aren’t great but there’s a fair amount of daily altitude gain. Trip itinerary: Day 1, Poker Flat Trailhead to Twin Valley, 4 mi + 600 ft. Day 2, Twin Valley to Youngs Valley area. 3 1/2 mi 1400 ft. This is a short day mileage wise and if there's interest, we can add about 4 mi and 600 ft for a side hike to explore an old chromium mine. Day 3, Loop back to Twin Valley from the west, 5 1/2 mi +1400 ft. Day 4, Back to the Poker Flat Trailhead and head home, 4 mi + 800 ft.
