When: Must be avail btwn July 22-26. We will go on the day that has the best weather.
Distance Roundtrip: ~38 miles
Total Elevation Gain/loss: ~9,000’
A light and fast single day ascent of an alpine classic and Chemeketan 18 Peak. The schedule calls for holding a 5
day window. This will be a 3 day trip Salem to Salem doing the climb in one day. We will drive up early on Day 1, climb on day 2, drive home on day 3 after we have plenty of rest. As we approach the climb, we will choose the best
weather window. Most parties do this in about 2-4 days, so this is a pretty big undertaking. Anyone
interested will be heavily vetted. If something happens, we will be very remote and cannot take any
risks on having anyone less than capable physically and mentally. I would anticipate this trip to be slow
paced jogging on many of the flats and downhills and A LOT of power hiking everywhere else. Those
going would need to demonstrate that they not only can be out for a long day and can run but also have
a brisk hiking pace that they can maintain for hours and hours be it flat, up, or down. We will also have
some glacier travel to contend with. We will be strapping crampons to our trail runners along with
bringing an ice ax. As the climb approaches, we will make a call on what gear we need for the glaciers
based on any beta available.
