This is an opportunity to learn about what has happened with our club over the past year as well as vote on proposed by-law changes. It is important for members to attend since a quorum is at least 25 members. The Chemeketans Executive Council proposes amending Article XI of the Chemeketans By-laws. Article XI deals with the procedures for making changes to our by-laws.
Please send any comments you have regarding the proposed by laws to council@chemeketans.org no later than December 31, 2018. Also, there will be an electronic forum on the Chemeketans website for comments. The current Article XI of the By-laws states: ARTICLE XI AMENDMENTS Amendments to the By-laws may be made at any annual or special meeting of the Club. Notice of the proposed amendment(s) shall be given in full by publication in the Club Bulletin not less than 30 days and not more than 90 days prior to the meeting. Such amendment(s) must be proposed in writing at the meeting, signed by at least five adult or adult life members. Amendments shall be made if a majority of the members present and voting have voted in favor of the amendment. Proposed revised Article XI of the By-laws: ARTICLE XI AMENDMENTS Amendments to the By-laws may be made using online voting procedures, by a mail-in ballot, or by vote at an annual or special meeting of the Club. Notice of the proposed amendment(s) shall be given in full by printed or electronic communication not less than 60 days and not more than 90 days prior to the voting to allow time for comments. Amendments may be proposed by the Executive Council. Amendments may also be proposed in writing to the Executive Council after having been signed by at least five adult or adult life members. Amendments shall be approved if a majority of the members voting have voted in favor of the proposed amendment.
