Bill Sullivan recommended this hike in his Statesman Journal column on New Year's Day of 2017. We took this hike the last years; let's do it again. We start at the Trappist abbey, and hike to a shrine that the brothers built on a ridge. We are enjoined to be respectful; that's what we do anyway, but in addition we are supposed to leave our cell phones and such in the car. Bill also recommends that we buy their fruitcakes to supplement our lunches. I will buy one to share at lunch time, but I also recommend that we each buy one to take home; they ARE good! Moderate pace.
