Eight of us had a lovely hike up to Stahlman's peak. We were surprised with many first flowers of summer: rhodies, ginger, false solomon seal, sorrel, and many early bear grass.
The mountain was showing her winter coat of snow and Detroit Reservoir was blue below.
An added fun to our hike was Sarah Boomer searching for banana slugs for her biological research. (not kidding). We found zero slugs, however, but it was fun to look. The trail was cleared of blowdowns, but beware of trail edges breaking down.
It was a pleasure to meet a first time Chemek, Diana Villanueva. Members were: Randy Selig, Roz Shirack, Ann Adamcik, Sumon Montri, Marcia Kenagy, Sarah Boomer and Mary Coleman, leader.
