Sahalie Falls to the Tamolitch Falls Blue Pool
Steve Engler |
Published on 5/24/2024
We had a mostly sunny and cool Monday May 20th for a fun waterfall hike. We started at Sahalie Falls and walked the Water Falls Loop Trail along the McKenzie River to Koosah Falls and on to the Ice Cap day use area. The water was flowing loud and clear and putting on a nice show. We encountered a school field trip out enjoying the trail and almost got trapped at an overlook by the parade of students. At the Ice Cap area we crossed the river to the McKenzie River Trail and hiked the four miles South to the Blue Pool. You do not see much of the river (I think it goes underground) but it was great woodland walk. Being a Monday there was not the usual crowds of people visiting but we did observe three adventurers going for a dip in the very cold water. Hikers were Chris O'Brien, Kathleen Hynes, Pam Thomas, Sue Engler, and leader Steve Engler taking the pictures.
