Trappers Butte

After a long winter of lowland hikes, we headed into the Old Cascades on the hike between 3 Pyramids and Scar Mountain.  It was a new hike to all 9 hikers and the leader had been only once.  We used Bill Sullivan's book (not on All Trails, so we did it the old fashioned way).
We saw only 2 fishermen at Daly Lake all day.  The mountain bike community has reopened this lovely through hike, but hasn't been up there yet this year.  We climbed over, under, around and through a handful of downed trees, but the forest was so beautiful and welcoming.  About a mile short of the butte summit we encountered too much snow to work around and lunched in the sun with a view of Jefferson and Jack.
After the hike, we drove to nearby Daly Lake to snoop around.  Our hike around the lake was halted by high water at the outlet.  The lake was stunningly blue and ducks and one lone goose bobbed on the water.
What a glorious day!  We were all totally tickled.
First timers were Anja Wenrick and Jeanne Acker. Members were Marcia Kenagy, Ann Wulff, Rebecca Sexton, Sumon Montri, Blanka Truneckova,  Joanne Schiedler, Nanci Chambers and Mary Coleman, leader.
