Shellburg Falls Hike

The new route from Hwy 22 takes you 6 miles by gravel road up behind the park and deposits you in the permanent camp ground behind the falls. We hiked the August Mountain trail down to the falls and back by the same route. The falls is blocked on both sides because of fallen rocks. A large percentage of the standing trees are dead. Without overstory the route is very exposed to the sun. I would not recommend this hike anytime in the near future. We were fortunate to have a mostly cloudy day.
