An enthusiastic group of women went into Marion Lake prepared to fend off early season mosquitos. We were delighted to find very few. We DID find the parking lot packed with cars and pickups. It seems that most of the folks had backpacked into the various lakes above Marion Lake. Only one group was at Marion. Half our group ventured past the outlet bridge to lunch in view of Mount Jefferson while the other half delighted in watching the fish jump in the blue and glassy lake. After lunch, we looped back to the main trail and to the car. We drove a mile or so down the road to a hidden road and trail to Gooch Falls which was new to everyone but the clever leader! Some brave members used the provided rope to belay down to a great viewing platform of the most glorious waterfall on Marion Creek. (Thanks to Scott Torgeson for showing me that little secret). It's not often that we hikers get to belay!
Enjoying the day were: Nadene LeCheminant, Robbie Gambino, Nancy Earl, Mary Liepins, Randy Selig, Pam Thomas, Diana Villanova, Sarah Boomer, Ann Adamcik, Roz Shirack, Sumon Montri, Jean Hutchinson and Mary Coleman, leader.
