South Sister 9/7/2024 Trip Report
Patrick Riley

A group of 5 Chemeketans and one prospective member went for South Sister on 9/7 from Green Lake TH. 5 of the 6 made the summit and returned to the TH in time to avoid the worse of the smoke/weather.

Congrats to Elise Willey and Serena Killion (prospective member) for their first summit on SS. Mason got his 16th peak with this trip. Kaitlin and Patrick also summited. Chris Shaw made it 12 miles RT but did not reach the summit.

Thanks everyone for joining me on my first scramble summit.

Thanks

Great trip report and congratulations. Kinda cool that you made the loop down to Green Lakes on the descent. Always nice to see new terrain. I always scratched my head at people that wanted to go up SS from Green lakes…that is a yucky way to do it. Also amazing how far the summit snow field has melted out over the years.

Again, looks like a fun trip and a nice time.

Way to go on your first lead, Patrick! It was a great day, and I enjoyed the alternate route even with the longer mileage. :-)

"A few parachuting individuals" must have been quite a site to see!
Well done, Patrick on an awesome scramble lead and a fantastic trip report!

Nice lead Patrick! Great idea to make a loop of the crater rim and to drop down via Green Lakes. Glad you all sneaked in there right before the fire closure :)
