Mount Shuksan-Fisher Chimneys
Author Last Post

Bill - We had ideal conditions for sure. I have now climbed the ridge three times. It does take longer than the gully but I had told my team it would be worth it. It's one of my favorite alpine rock routes. Michael's team started later and ascended the gully. They reached the summit about 45 minutes after we did. The weather was nice for lingering until both teams had topped out.

Andrew pointed out all of the surrounding peaks, including Icy, and he credited climbing with you when we asked how he recognized so many.

Congrats and great job by all; you certainly had the weather to enjoy it! The Fisher Chimneys route will keep your attention both within the chimneys themselves and also on the steeper snow sections (Hell's Highway). Overall, it would appear that snow and rock conditions were quite goldilocks.

For Shonee  -  Had you climbed the SE ridge route on the ascent block back in 2019, or used the gully system? The ridge route is certainly more aesthetic, but it just seemed to take longer than using the gullies as there was no necessity to use the rope/set pro, etc..  I also noted the following pic taken very near the summit; though Andrew, Laurie and Theresa might not have recognized it from that viewpoint, that's Icy Peak ~ 3 miles to the east (and 2000' below) and situated just above Nooksack cirque. You get just stupendous views from Shuksan's summit.
