Jefferson Park - Mt. Jeff Wilderness

About this event

Now that the Whitewater trail to Jeff Park has reopened since the 2020 wildfire, October is the perfect time to visit. It will be cool as we hike up the first 3 miles that were severely burned and are now exposed to the sun. The burned area may not be pretty but the opened views of Mt Jefferson with new snow, will be. Whitewater Creek should be easy to cross, but hiking poles may be helpful to pick your way across on rocks.

Jeff Park itself was not burned. Expect red huckleberry foliage amongst the green heather, some lingering gentian, and few people. We will hike to Scout Lake for lunch where we have a great view across the lake to Mt Jefferson. Limited to 12 in the wilderness.
