This section hike will cover 48 miles of the PCT. Much of this stretch is heavily forested with Douglas fir and hemlock, leading to its nickname as part of the "Green Tunnel." However, the trail does have some sharp contrasts, such as crossing lava fields near Mt. McLoughlin. The highlight of the section is the Sky Lakes Wilderness, where we will pass through a high-elevation basin dotted with dozens of pristine subalpine lakes. 

This part of the PCT is generally considered moderate in difficulty. It’s relatively flat but can be rocky underfoot due to volcanic debris. I plan to hike 5-10 miles a day with 2 nights in Sky Lake Wilderness to avoid dry camping.
