The Loowit Trail is a rugged, approximately 30-mile loop that circumnavigates Mount St. Helens. It is widely considered one of the most unique and challenging hikes in the Pacific Northwest, offering a front-row seat to the mountain's 1980 eruption and ongoing recovery. I am limiting the backpack to a very small group of (4) four, including myself. Camp sites are limited, and there are no required permits. This makes the numbers of other hikers unpredictable, so it’s best to go small.
