Silver Falls Backcountry

About this event

Fall hike in the Silver Falls backcountry. We will start at the Smith Creek Village, head up the south side of Buck Mountain to Upper Catamount and Lost Creek, and loop back via Smith Creek.

We will stop at the Big Leaf Market & Grill in Smith Creek Village for post-hike refreshments or a late lunch.

Bring water, and a snack or lunch. Poles are a good idea if it's muddy.

Difficulty: Medium

Pace: Moderate

Hiking Distance: 9 miles RT

Elevation Gain: 1100 feet

Driving Distance: 55 miles RT

Hiking Trip Ratings:
EASY: Maximum of 5 miles round trip, elevation gain less than 1000 feet
MEDIUM: 6-10 miles round trip, elevation gain 1000-2000 feet
HARD: Long, difficult, and strenuous

To reimburse drivers for vehicle operation costs, the suggested donation by passengers is $0.10 per mile per person to the driver.
