Picture Night - Isabella Bird's Colorado, Then and Now
About this event
British explorer Isabella L Bird, advised to travel for her health, toured the Rockies in the fall and winter of 1873, on her way home from the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii). The letters she wrote home to her sister, later becoming the book, A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains, give us a remarkably detailed view of life in this newly settled land.
Intrigued by her vivid descriptions, especially of her beloved Estes Park and what is now the Rocky Mountain National park, Susan and Ric LaTour decided to go exploring themselves, only by plane and car rather than train and horseback.
Join us as we follow in Isabella Bird's footsteps from Manitou Springs to Estes Park along the front range of the Rockies.
