Coffin Mountain

July 8, 2018. We hiked to the top of Coffin Mt under sunny skies with constant views of Mt. Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Mt. Washington, and the Three Sisters, plus Mt Hood and Mt Adams after reaching the summit. There was a wide variety of wildflowers in the steep meadows, but alas, very little bear grass in bloom. A good reason to return next year. One of my favorite sightings was the Pacific hounds tongue, a common plant that I seldom see in bloom. It's tall stalk of small blue flowers was just opening. Hikers were guest Nadene Le Cheminant on her first qualifying hike, Dan Moung, Nameun House, and leader Roz Shirack.
