Evening: Englewood to Geer Park

Published on 8/26/2018
August 23, 2018. We had a cool, smoke-free evening for a nice five-mile walk. We headed across Englewood Park, traversed the “North Campus” of the State Hospital, walked behind the Hospital and visited the poignant memorial with the unclaimed ashes of thousands of patients who died between 1913 and 1971 (https://www.oregon.gov/oha/osh/Documents/OSH-Memorial-Booklet.pdf), continued to Geer Park, enjoyed the Marion County Extension Service/Master Gardener test gardens, and crossed the disc golf course on the State Hospital property. Members Beverly Hassell and Blanka Truneckova, who had never visited any of these places, joined leader Elizabeth Seibert.
