Iron Mt and Cone Peak Loop - June 25, 2019
My favorite wildflower hike did not disappoint as it wowed us with massive displays of blue larkspur and field gilia, along with lots of cat’s ear, Oregon sunshine, Indian paintbrush, and dozens of other wildflowers. We enjoyed these displays as we passed through the several large rocky meadows along the Cone Peak trail. We continued on up to the top of Iron Mt for lunch where we identified the many surrounding peaks from the “mountain finder” map on the summit platform. Clouds obscured the tops of the highest Cascade peaks, but that did not diminish the joy we felt from hiking this unique ridge and peak called Iron Mt. We finished our day with ice cream and iced coffees at the Idanha Country Store.
Hikers were Randy Selig, Larry Vuylsteke, Rick Cooper, Blanka Truneckova, Nancy Rockwell, Vivienne Torgeson, Scott Torgeson, guest Nicole Blanco-Mills, and leader Roz Shirack.
