We had a splendid, sunny and clear day for our hike. It remained cool with a slight breeze throughout the day, perfect weather for our many miles on the trial. We hiked 6 miles (one way) and climbed 1800 feet as we passed Duffy, Mowich and little Alice Lakes in route to the top of Red Butte. It is a banner year for bear grass, and this hike did not disappoint. Bear grass was blooming in profusion, especially in the parts of the trail that passed through the B and B burn.
From the top of Red Butte, we had spectacular views of Jefferson, Jack, the Three Sisters, and Diamond Peak, but Jack commanded our attention. It was front and center.
Hikers included members E. Settles, B. Engeln, S. Gram, A. Wulff and leader R. Cooper.
