Sixteen non-members joined six Chemeketans on the 1.5-mile private trail along the Siletz River to the log cabin featured in the adventure memoir, "Cabin Fever." At the cabin, Janell Sorensen offered cookies and coffee. We returned on a loop over two hills, past the "writing cabin" with a typewriter where Bill is currently working on a third historical novel set in the Viking Age. On the trail we passed giant Sitka spruce trees, spied on a boater in the river, found bear scat, and noticed lobster mushrooms. Chemeketans on the trip included leader Bill Sullivan, Rebecca Horlacher, Ron Rhodehamel, Mary Coleman, Linda Willnow, and Bill Geibel. Nonmember guests were Pam Edry of Vancouver WA, Christine Ratchinsky of Eugene, Laura Zuke of Springfield, Harold and Annette Thompson of Eugene, Callista Snively of Yachats, Julie Kay of Newport, Kathleen VanDaalen of Newport, Connie Jincks of Bend, Rich Keller of Newport, David Powell of Newport, Dave Gingold of Eugene and others.
