Olga's Outcropping Snowshoe - March 7, 2020
Published on 3/8/2020
Crisp late-winter weather, dry roads, good snow, glistening sun breaks, and great company made this a perfect day for our group of 12. Climbing over and under many downed trees across the road added some adventure and challenge. As we gained elevation, the path became clear for the gentle climb through the woods up to the rocky "Olga's" perch. A snow angel was made to celebrate! From our lunch spot, the expansive view toward Mount Jefferson was shrouded in low clouds, but still so spectacular on this mild day.
We felt very lucky to have such good snow, crunchy and fresh on the way up (kudos and thanks to our energetic trailbreaker) and softening as we descended in the afternoon. The predicted rain held off until we were safely gathered around our coffee cups in Mill City. Such a compatible group --each and every one contributed something special to this trip: Lee Slattum, Jean Gabriel, Joe Cover, Jill Wilson, Joanne Schiedler, Deanna Davis, Tom Davis, Patty Baskins, Becky Engelin, Lynnette Oleson, Trish Rossitto, and leader Mona Knapp.
