Chemeketans are made of sturdy stuff, but when the temperature predictions soared to the high 80s, we bailed on our planned Mary’s Peak hike and went instead to Section 36—Powder House Loop Trail. The trail was shady, the temperatures in the forest were pleasant, and we had a great morning. On the way home we enjoyed patio treats at the Brew Coffee & Tap House in Independence. Hikers included Martin Doerfler, Marie Flores, Franca Hernandez, Nadene LeCheminant (leader) and Roz Shirack.
