We had a nice walk through Bush Park and Deepwood Park looking for spring native wildflowers. Flower blooms are running 2-3 weeks late due to the cold spring, but we found about 2 dozen species braving the cold. Fawn Lily (Erythronium) provided the largest displays. Pink Fawn Lily is native to coastal Oregon, not the Willamette Valley, but it was planted at Deepwood and makes a nice pairing with the white Fawn Lily (photo 1). We also found the first of the Camas blooms (photo 2)! Walkers enjoying the park were, from left, Cynthia Donald, Mark Ferguson, Patty Baskin, and leader Roz Shirack (not pictured). After a cool morning with light rain, we adjourned to the leader’s house nearby for hot tea and scones with homemade jams. (Photos by Roz)
