Ten hikers ignored the heat advisory and headed out to check out the condition of the Old Bridge Trail after the big fire. I had it on good word that the trail was open and "doable'.
Like most trails, this one has gotten steeper since I last did it. What's with that?
We made it up to the meadow in perfect form, making sure we drank plenty of water. I was dismayed to find the flowers at least 2 weeks behind. The meadow was without a single bloom!
Heading down the old jeep trail (Bull Creek), we found it to be cluttered with branches and rubble. The forest was nearly all burned. The sun pounded on us as we made our way to the gravel portion and the loop back to the cars. Happily, Scott and Lynette drove up to give us a lift the last half mile. Yay, team!
We drove straight to the Molalla River Brewing Company for cold beverages under the trees. We all agreed that we had a first class group of hikers. We also agreed that the final leg was horrid. Thumbs down and smiles on.
