Mt. Pisgah June 3, 2003

Seven doughty hikers began our hike at the arboretum to the summit of Mt. Pisgah and then around the shady way back to our car, managing to skip the tedious gravel roadway to the top. Memories failed the scouting team, leading us to an unplanned scramble straight up a cowpath to the top, but in true Chemeketan fashion, there were no complaints heard as we enjoyed our lunch surrounded by the 360 degree views on a perfectly sunny yet cool day. Besides the views that couldn't be beat, we saw a fawn in the meadow, a Western Tanager right over our heads, either Blue Dicks or Ookows in bloom, lots of lizards, a garter snake, and a wingless wasp. Also lots and lots of lush poison oak.
Happy hikers were Joanne Scheider, Sumon Montal, Mary Coleman, Ric LaTour, Susan LaTour (leader), Eric LaTour and Caela Mitchell, guests.
