Five of us kicked off the Fourth of July holiday by getting high and away from the crowds. We had a spectacular day going to Rooster Rock in Table Rock Wilderness. We were pleased to find the trail unharmed by the fires and vibrant with meadows full of color.
Three of us scrambled up "chicken rock" to admire views from Sisters to Adams. The meadow below was full of yellow sunflowers, just nearing peak.
Marcia and Joan know the area thoroughly and encouraged us to follow the ridge another mile on the vague, rarely used ridge trail. Were we ever glad. The first meadow was carpeted in Oregon Sunshine daisies. The second meadow was a jaw dropping mass of bear grass.
Feeling lucky were: Joan Zuber, Jim Rastorfer, Sylvia de Lacy, Marcia Kenagy and Mary Coleman, leader.
