Coffin Mountain

A nice group of midweekers headed out to Coffin Mountain in search of summer flowers and views. This is apparently not a big year for the bear grass, but the crowds of other rock flowers were happy and hosting lots of butterflies. The sky was blue and the summit views were lovely. After enjoying the lookout site, most of us spent some extra time on the unmaintained ridge walk with carpets of penstemon. Ann and Lynette headed over to Bachelor Mountain for another peak experience.
Glad we came and having a grand day were: Nancy Tucek, Steve Engler, Becky Hickox, Eileen Harder, Nanci Chambers, Mary Lucas (first Chemek hike), Scott and Lynette Torgeson, Ann Wulff, Beverly Hassell and leader, Mary Coleman.
