Duffy lake Backpack - August 14, 2023

A group of 8 Chemeketans happily escaped from the 100+ degree temperatures in the valley for a 3-day backpack trip in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness. The group hiked in from the Duffy Lake trailhead and made base camp at the lake. The following day, we did a 7 mile loop hike to Mowich lake, Red Butte, Santiam lake, and back to camp. Each day’s hike was followed by a long swim in Duffy lake, which is refreshingly cool, rather than bone-chilling cold like many mountain lakes. Participants included David Anderson, Karyn Pressel, Debi Gile, Karie Hutchings, Elly Collier, Lesley Johnson, Dave McKenna, and Tina Hayworth.
