The hike in starts at the Patjens Lake trailhead on the west shores of Big Lake near Hoodoo Ski area. The hike in will be along the shores of Big lake A bit after the trail leaves the shoreline we’ll cut east and link up with the PCT. From the PCT a cairn marks the climbers trail that leads to the north ridge. The north ridge is a 3rd class scramble ending at a sizable saddle where we’ll drop our packs and get ready for the technical sections. After reaching the saddle, the climb consists of three pitches of technical rock climbing to a large area on the pinnacle. From the summit we’ll be able to see most of the other Oregon mountains; 3FJ, Sisters, Jefferson and others. The descent will be rappelling back to the saddle and back down the north ridge.
This is a great mountain to get a feel for Oregon alpine rock.
Party size will be determined on how many assistants I can get signed up for the climb.
