Cape Mears & Bay Ocean
We will hike north up the beach for about three miles to the Tillamook Bay jetty then return south on the forested bay side visiting the site of long gone Bay Ocean. Once known as "the Atlantic City of the West" (faint praise) and later "the town that fell into the sea", Bay Ocean is a textbook example of the perils of messing with Mother Nature. We will also pass by possibly the worst pit toilet on the coast, so plan ahead. Pre-register by texting or emailing.
