Oregon Coast Trail via Cascade Trailhead - Siuslaw NF
The Sitka Spruce-Western Hemlock rain forest here has been studied by foresters since 1934. This trail is entirely inland and has no coastline views, but mid-way on the trail near the headwaters of Calkins Creek, there remains a grove of six-foot diameter old growth Sitka spruce.
To sign up for this hike, please contact Sandra (text preferred) by noon the day before (6/13). We will find a suitable place to stop for a lunch break, so bring a snack or lunch.
