Silver Falls: Catamount - Smith Creek Loop
Starting at the 214 Trailhead in Silver Falls State Park we will take a short portion of the Newt Loop Trail to the beginning of the Catamount Trail. We will follow the Catamount Trail for about 4 miles until we can loop back on connecting trails to a short portion of the Buck Mountain Loop Trail and on to the Smith Creek Trail. From the Smith Creek Trail a series of switchbacks ascends to the Newt Loop Trail which returns us to the 214 Trailhead. Much of the elevation gain on the way back comes toward the end! The hike will probably take roughly five hours with snack breaks and a lunch break. The pace will be moderate with some adjustment for the group. The hike is open to eight people who are FULLY VACCINATED. Please register by text.
