Mountain View Shelter Snowshoe

We'll snowshoe from the Maxwell snow park to the Mountain View Shelter via the longer, less-traveled route using a portion of the Maxwell Butte trail. Last year, our club volunteers cut and removed about 180 logs from this route, so we should have a wide snow-covered trail. We may return the same route, or may take a loop route, depending on snow conditions. Pre-register by phone or e-mail.

Difficulty: Medium-Hard

Driving distance 160 miles RT.

Hiking distance 6 miles RT.

Given the extra effort to hike with snow shoes on through snow, the following ratings for Snowshoe Trips are different than hiking ratings:
EASY: Maximum 5 miles round trip, elevation gain less than 500 feet
MEDIUM: 5-7 miles round trip, 500-1000 feet elevation gain
HARD: Over 1000 feet elevation gain, over 7 miles round trip
