Teanaway scramblefest
July 13-14 Saturday-Sunday
Dates may change a bit depending on other climb postings as the season progresses. I’ll keep those interested aware of any change.
The Teanaway area of Washington is just east of the Cascades and located immediately south of the Stuart range and the Enchantments. Trailheads are ~ 2-1/4 hours from Seattle, and accessed from I-90 and Cle Elum. The area is open country and generally has much better weather than areas to the west of the Cascades. We did some scrambling here in 2018 due to a weather-related relocation and it turned out marvelously.
After breakfast in Seattle, the intent would be to drive over to the area and either set up for a car camp or else drive to the appropriate trailhead and hike in a few miles to a base camp. From either locale we would begin scrambling, most probably with a loop excursion in mind. Depending on preferences and time available, summits of interest would include Earl peak, Bean peak, Volcanic Neck, Bills peak, Koppen Mt, Iron peak, or a few others in the vicinity. The peaks are quite close together and most can be readily enchained.
Equipment: helmet, ice axe (perhaps) depending on snow cover
Maps: Green trails #209,
