Iron Mt and Cone Peak Loop - June 30, 2019

It’s hard to beat perfection, so I returned to Iron Mt. five days later with a different group of hikers including Eileen Harder, Allison Boomer, guest Karin Shinn, and leader Roz Shirack. The flowers were just as stunning as earlier in the week (see We Were There June 25), plus there were more flax flowers and Jacobs Ladder in bloom in the last mile to the summit of Iron Mt. We enjoyed a long lunch at the top with lots of other people with kids, a new born, and dogs. All the mountains were in view, except Hood and Adams to the north. We concluded a perfect day with Umpqua ice cream at Frothy Top near Stayton.
