Starting at Pintail Marsh, we walked the seasonal mowed paths of the Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge south of Salem. We were surrounded by bird song and lovely fields and ponds. Almost no one in our group had been to Ankeny, and no one except the leader had walked these paths. Guest Diana Upton completed her second qualifying hike. She was joined by members Jane Maute, Brigitte Johnson, Kathleen Hynes, Chris O'Brien, Bev Hassell, Nadene LeCheminant and leader Elizabeth Seibert.
