Sitka Sedge State Natural Area - June 21, 2022

Rick Cooper, Rosamund Irwin, Rick Jorgensen, Nadene LeCheminant, Lucero Nieves, Nancy Rockwell and Roz Shirak spent a leisurely day hiking loop trails and a pristine beach at Sitka Sedge State Natural Area. Our five-and-a-half-mile hike took us through Sitka spruce and shore pine forests, through a long pathway of fragrant Nootka roses, and along the secluded beach, which offered views of Haystack Rock and Cape Lookout. We saw shore birds, a deer and a large crab that scrambled sideways in front of us. A special welcome to Lucero, who joined us for the first time! The hike was led by Nadene.
