Buck Mountain Hike-Silver Falls State Park

Debra C Dawes | Published on 7/24/2022
We enjoyed a gorgeous hike on the Buck Mountain trail. The trail is entirely in the forest, so it was comfortable on a warm day.  There are many very large trees and so many ferns on this trail, making it my new favorite trail. We encountered one group of horses and one group of bikes at a large junction area-very fortuitous! Other than that, we only encountered a handful of hikers, a couple more bikes and horses.  A bonus is the large parking lot at the trailhead at Howard Creek, when other lots in the park must have been full. Those enjoying this hike were Mary Coleman, Susan Merrell, completing her first qualifying hike and leader Debra Dawes.
