Peavy Arboretum Hike - February 4, 2024

Steve Engler | Published on 2/6/2024

You could hardly ask for better hiking weather for early February. Thirteen hikers wandered about 7.5 miles on a mix of trails at the Peavy Arboretum at the OSU McDonald Dunn Forest. The majority of the hike was on the Banzai Trail that offered a nice mix of open views and a variety of different types of forest area. The sky even gave us a view of Mt. Jefferson and Mt. Hood. We had a couple who were on their first hike with the Chemeketans and said they enjoyed the welcoming group. The trails were in great shape considering the heavy rain in the previous week. Hikers were: Sue Engler, Sumon Montri, Mary Liepins, Becky Hickox, Ashley Sorg, Tom Burke, Roz Shirack, Chris O’Brien, Kathleen Hynes, Marie Flores, and first timers Linsay Parker and Dave Doughman. Hike leader was Steve Engler, his first hike as leader.
